April – courageous

Exploring and trying out new things means meeting the unkown. It goes along with the risk of failure – and that requires courage. Guided by this mentality, we embraced the value ‘courage’ into our corporate culture at hubergroup to enable innovations on behalf of our customers. This is what our April calendar motif stands for.

We quickly decided for the lion as this month’s motif as it is known as a symbol for bravery around the world. And also finding the right ink from the hubergroup portfolio was easy: We used UV-LED NewV set UEL4000 plus spot UV varnish as base coat.

However, the lion image posed us a pre-press challenge due to its detailed structure in the face. This was produced with two different varnishes (NewV lac 40UC8290 and NewV lac gloss 40UC9252), with the last varnish on full surface of the calendar sheet. The biggest challenge for the designer was to be able to define layers that could denote down to the level of individual hairs on the lion where the varnish needed to be applied – but it was well mastered.
