Already in 2017, hubergroup was the first international ink manufacturer to receive a Cradle to Cradle certificate in the sheetfed offset sector and thus significantly advanced sustainability in the industry. Since then, we have continuously improved the environmental performance of our products and are now happy to announce that we have reached another milestone: We offer a complete Cradle to Cradle Material Health Gold certified portfolio for commercial and packaging offset printing.
“We aim at driving the circular economy. It was clear to us that we can only do so if we offer our customers a complete offset portfolio certified Cradle to Cradle Material Health Gold – no matter if they want to print commercials, food or non-food packaging,” explains Josef Sutter, Product Manager Sheetfed/UV Europe at hubergroup. “For this reason, we have formulated a new ink range which is based on our low-migration MGA NATURA series and therefore especially suitable for printing food packaging.”
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovations Institute now certified this MGA NATURA variant as well as various water-based coatings of the ACRYLAC series with the gold level of its Material Health Certifications. In addition to that, hubergroup’s commercial series ALPHA viva has carried the Gold status since 2018. Specifically, this means the institute confirms that our inks and coatings do not contain any substances which pose a high risk to humans or the environment (i.e. no x-assessed or unknown chemicals). As a consequence, they are a good basis for making printing products ready for the circular economy after usage.
